Join us for our next Legally Yours lunch and learn CPD session with Sheetal Deo from Shakti Legal and The Diversity Collective (TDC) on ‘Beyond Unconscious Bias - Recognising ‘systemic’ biases and how you can use your individual strengths to address them in a way that aligns with your personal values’

Details are:

Date: Wednesday 24th November 2021
Time: 12.30pm - 1.30pm (ADST)

This session has been allocated 1 CPD unit in Professional Skills

About the Session
Conversations about oppressive systems and structures can be confronting and uncomfortable. Even when we try to learn we’re faced with the worry of asking the wrong questions, offending others or being ‘cancelled.’ The Diversity Collective is a social impact initiative which facilitates access to education and lived experiences with a view to drive systemic change.

TDC believes it's important to educate, not berate. By creating safe learning environments to engage in ethical dialogue, TDC hopes to help people and organisations look beyond unconscious bias to the systems and structures which inform those biases.

In this session, attendees will takeaway the following learnings -
  • How we are affected by systems of oppression and privilege (and what we can do about it);
  • Why its beneficial to look at these systems through an intersectional lens;
  • Common responses and resistance to these discussions (and how you can address them); and
  • TDC’s model for identifying what you can do about all of the above.
